Great camps don't just "happen" - there are hours of planning beforehand that go into making sure everything runs smoothly and safely.
Start, as always, with SAFE GUIDE. Go ahead, look it up. And don't forget to check the Activity Guides too.
The OAL Guide to Camping is a treasure trove of information, whether residential or tenting - read it as often as you camp!
Use the camp planning resources available on Member Zone (requires login) and the BC Camping Committee page. You'll find menu planning tips and ideas, sample kit lists, activity suggestions, campsite booking info, and more.
A detailed Camp Budgetcamp_budget_detailed_rev._03-23__1_.xls will help you set a fee with confidence, knowing that you've done your best to eliminate surprise costs, and are not charging excessive fees.
INVOLVE THE GIRLS. The older the girls, the more input they should have and the greater role they should take in the planning of the camp. Sparks can participate in "either/or" decisions; whereas Rangers should be doing it all themselves except the parts that need to be done by someone over 19.
Once your plans are complete and written down, the Safe Guide Assessment Process ensures that GGC is aware of your plans and acknowledges their suitability or approves the venture.
Camp Equipment
We are proud to support girls getting into the outdoors, by having appropriate and well-maintained camp gear for them to use.
Mackenzie Heights District camp gear is for the use of Mackenzie Heights District units and patrols only. All gear must be signed out by a Guider, and returned by a Guider.
